The plant will provide key precursors for the formulation of silicon-based building protection products and adhesives for exterior wall coatings and industrial coatings. Currently, such substances are only produced at the Burghausen plant. The plant is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2022. The investment amount is approximately 30 million euros.

WACKER uses silanes and liquid resins to formulate many specialty silicone products: building antiseptics and concrete protective coatings contain such hydrophobic active ingredients, so they have water-repellent active ingredients, and the adhesion of exterior wall coatings, corrosion-resistant protective coatings or heat-resistant powder coatings The same is true for the mixture.

The group currently produces these additives in the alcoholysis coating facility at its Burghausen plant. There, the by-products of silicone production are converted into silane and liquid resin by reacting with alcohol. These substances are further processed into silicone products for use in construction and coating applications in Burghausen and Nünchritz.

In the future, WACKER will also produce such formula ingredients in Nünchritz. In the northern part of the factory, construction workers are currently laying the foundation for a new alcoholysis coating factory where products synthesized by methylchlorosilane can be further processed.

The European Coatings Technology Forum was held in Berlin in November 2016. This book provides a comprehensive summary of the lectures and seminars. Highlights include an in-depth understanding of innovative cashew nut shell liquid-derived curing agents and ultra-durable aluminum pigments.
